Paternity
In Florida, a man is presumed to be the father of any child born to his wife during their marriage. If the parents were not married, and the father refuses to acknowledge paternity, a mother may petition the court to determine paternity, seek an order of child support and resolve issues in relation to visitation. A man, not married to the mother, who believes that he is the father of her child, may also initiate a paternity action to establish his rights and responsibility to his child.
